Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 26 October 2026
These Terms and Conditions set out the rules for using Rocketwave's website, battery-swapping services and Rocket App, and the general terms that apply when businesses partner or advertise with us.
In short
- Part A applies to everyone. Part B covers battery swapping, Part C covers Rocket App, and Part D covers partners and advertisers.
- Batteries remain our property, or the property of their owner. Use them only in compatible vehicles, and report any damage straight away.
- Charges, deposits and plan details are shown before you pay.
- Offers in Rocket App, including loans, insurance and jobs, come from partners. They decide eligibility, and their terms apply.
- Rocketwave is not a bank, NBFC, insurer or employer, and does not guarantee results to advertisers or partners.
- Indian law applies. Consumers keep their rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
This summary is for convenience only. The full text below applies.
Part A: General terms for everyone
1. Introduction and acceptance
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Rocketwave ("Rocketwave", "we", "us", "our"). They apply to your use of:
- our website (the "Website");
- our battery-swapping stations, batteries and related services (the "Swap Services");
- Rocket App, our digital platform for offers, campaigns and onboarding journeys ("Rocket App");
- any other service we provide that links to these Terms.
Together these are our "Services". By accessing or using any Service, or by clicking "I agree" or a similar button, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
These Terms are divided into parts. Part A applies to everyone. Part B applies to the Swap Services, Part C to Rocket App, and Part D to businesses that partner or advertise with us. Part E contains legal terms that apply to everyone.
Some Services may have additional terms, such as plan terms, promotion rules or a partner offer's own terms. These are shown to you when you use that Service and form part of these Terms. If they conflict with these Terms, the additional terms apply to that Service.
These Terms are an electronic record under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and do not require a physical or digital signature.
Back to contents ↑2. Key terms used
- "Battery" means any battery pack, together with its connectors and accessories, that we issue to you through the Swap Services.
- "Station" means a Rocketwave battery-swapping station, including its swap cabinets, canopy, signage and surrounding area.
- "Plan" means any subscription, pay-per-swap, rental or other pricing plan for the Swap Services.
- "Partner" means a third party we work with. This includes property owners, EV makers, battery and fleet operators, advertisers, banks, NBFCs, insurers, recruiters, brands and other service providers.
- "Partner Offer" means any product, service, job or opportunity provided by a Partner and shown at our Stations or in Rocket App.
- "Partnership Agreement" means a separate written agreement between Rocketwave and a Partner.
3. Who can use the Services
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872.
- To use the Swap Services, you must also hold a valid driving licence where the law requires one for your vehicle, and use a vehicle that is compatible with our Batteries.
- If you use the Services on behalf of a company or other organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these Terms on its behalf. In that case, "you" includes that organisation.
- We may refuse or limit access to any Service if we reasonably believe that you do not meet these requirements, or that your use would breach these Terms or the law.
4. Your account
- Some Services require an account. You must give accurate, complete and current information and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for all activity under your account. Keep your login details, one-time passwords (OTPs) and device secure, and do not share them. Rocketwave staff will never ask for your OTP.
- Tell us immediately at the contact details in section 33 if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
- Your account is personal. You may not sell, transfer or lend it to anyone else.
5. About our Services
- Phased rollout. Our Services are being introduced in phases. Not every Service, feature, Plan or Partner Offer is available at every Station, in every city or to every user. What is available to you is shown in Rocket App, at the Station or in your Plan.
- Information is indicative. Descriptions of Stations, locations, partnership options and Rocket App features on the Website and in our materials are general. Pictures on the Website are illustrations, not photographs of actual Stations.
- Changes. We may add, change, suspend or withdraw any Service, Station, feature or Plan. Where a change materially affects a paid Plan you are using, we will give you reasonable notice, and you may cancel the Plan and receive a refund of any unused amount paid in advance.
Part B: Battery Swap Services
6. How the Swap Services work
- Registration and verification. To use the Swap Services, you must register, complete identity verification and choose a Plan. We may ask for documents such as a driving licence, PAN, masked Aadhaar or vehicle registration, and may refuse registration if verification fails.
- Swapping. At a Station, you exchange a depleted Battery for a charged one by following the instructions in Rocket App, on the swap cabinet or from Station staff. Each swap is recorded against your account.
- Ownership of Batteries. Batteries are and remain the property of Rocketwave or of the Partner that owns them. You receive only a limited, non-transferable right to use a Battery in your registered vehicle while you have an active Plan and comply with these Terms. You may not sell, pledge, lend, hire out or otherwise deal with a Battery as if it were your own.
- Compatible vehicles only. Use Batteries only in vehicles we have confirmed are compatible. Using a Battery in any other vehicle or device is not allowed and may be dangerous.
- Returning Batteries. When your Plan ends, or if we ask you to for safety, recall or maintenance reasons, you must return all Batteries to a Station or another place we tell you, within the time we specify.
7. Plans, charges, deposits and payment
- Charges shown upfront. The price of each Plan, any per-swap charges, security deposits, late-return charges and other fees are shown in Rocket App, at the Station or in your Plan terms before you pay. All charges are in Indian rupees and include or add GST as stated.
- Security deposit. Some Plans require a refundable security deposit. We refund it within 7 working days after all Batteries are returned and inspected, after deducting any unpaid charges and the cost of any damage or loss for which you are responsible under section 9.
- Payment. Payments are processed through licensed payment providers, using methods such as UPI, cards or wallets. Their own terms also apply. Where you choose auto-renewal or recurring payments, you authorise us to charge the selected payment method until you cancel.
- Price changes. We may change prices for future Plan periods. We will notify you before a change takes effect, and you may cancel before it does.
- Unpaid amounts. If a payment fails or charges remain unpaid, we may suspend swaps until they are paid. Any late charges will be as stated in your Plan terms.
- Invoices. We issue tax invoices as required by GST law. Please provide your GSTIN if you want it to appear on invoices.
8. Using Batteries safely
Lithium-ion batteries must be handled with care. When a Battery is in your possession, you must:
- use it only in your registered, compatible vehicle, and only for lawful purposes;
- never open, puncture, modify, repair or tamper with a Battery, its seals or its tracking or monitoring components;
- never charge a Battery anywhere except at a Rocketwave Station or a charger we have approved;
- keep it away from water immersion, fire, extreme heat and direct prolonged heat sources, and do not drop or crush it;
- stop using it, move away and contact us immediately if it becomes hot, swollen, smells unusual, leaks, smokes or is damaged;
- follow all instructions and safety notices we give you.
To protect riders and the public, we may remotely monitor Batteries. We may also restrict a Battery that is unsafe, reported lost or stolen, or not returned when required, provided we do so in a way that does not create a safety risk while a vehicle is being ridden.
Back to contents ↑9. Loss, theft and damage
- Report promptly. Tell us within 24 hours if a Battery is lost, stolen or damaged. If it is stolen, you must also file a police complaint and share a copy with us.
- Your responsibility. You are responsible for loss of, or damage to, a Battery while it is in your possession, if the loss or damage is caused by misuse, negligence, tampering or breach of these Terms. Charges for loss or damage are set out in your Plan terms or our published schedule, and will not exceed the reasonable cost of repair or replacement.
- Normal wear. You are not responsible for normal wear and tear, manufacturing defects, or faults that are not caused by you.
- Recovery. We may use Battery location data and the details in your account to recover Batteries that are not returned as required, and may involve the police where appropriate.
10. Conduct at Stations
- Follow the signs, instructions and directions of Station staff, and the rules of the property where the Station is located.
- Do not smoke, use open flames, or carry out vehicle repairs at a Station.
- Park only in marked areas, and do not block entrances, other users or traffic.
- Treat staff, other riders and the public with respect. We may refuse service to anyone who is abusive, threatening or acts unsafely.
- Do not damage, misuse or tamper with swap cabinets, chargers, cameras or other equipment.
- Stations may be monitored by CCTV for safety and security, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
11. Availability of Stations and Batteries
We work to keep Stations open and stocked with charged Batteries. However, we cannot guarantee that a Station will always be open, that a charged Battery will always be available, or that a Station will never be closed for maintenance, power failure, safety reasons or events outside our control. Where possible, Rocket App will show the status of Stations. If a Station is unavailable, please use another Station.
Plan terms may include specific service commitments or credits. Where they do, those terms apply.
Back to contents ↑12. Cancellation, refunds and suspension
- Cancelling by you. You may cancel your Plan at any time through Rocket App or by contacting us. Refunds of unused, prepaid amounts are made as set out in your Plan terms. Your security deposit is refunded as described in section 7.
- Suspension or termination by us. We may suspend or end your access to the Swap Services if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms, fail to pay charges, tamper with or misuse Batteries or equipment, act unsafely or abusively, or give false information. Where reasonable, we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.
- When your Plan ends. When your Plan ends for any reason, you must return all Batteries promptly. Charges incurred up to that point remain payable.
Part C: Rocket App
13. Using Rocket App
- We give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use Rocket App on devices you own or control, for your own use and in line with these Terms.
- Rocket App may need certain permissions, such as location or notifications, for some features to work. You can manage these in your device settings.
- We may release updates. Some updates may be required to keep using Rocket App.
- You must not copy, modify, reverse engineer or decompile Rocket App, interfere with its security, or use bots or scripts to access it, except as the law expressly allows.
14. Partner Offers in Rocket App
- Offers come from Partners. Partner Offers shown at Stations or in Rocket App are provided by the relevant Partner, not by Rocketwave. The Partner is responsible for its product, pricing, eligibility criteria, terms, delivery and after-sales service.
- Your agreement is with the Partner. When you accept a Partner Offer, you enter into an agreement with that Partner. Its own terms and privacy policy apply, and you should read them before you proceed.
- Sharing your details. We share your details with a Partner only when you request its offer and consent, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
- No endorsement or guarantee. Showing a Partner Offer is not a recommendation or guarantee by Rocketwave. We do not guarantee that you will qualify for, be approved for, or receive any Partner Offer.
- How we are paid. Rocketwave may receive fees or commissions from Partners for showing their offers or for referrals. We label sponsored content as such.
15. Financial and insurance products
- Rocketwave is not a bank, non-banking financial company (NBFC), insurer, insurance intermediary or investment adviser. We do not lend money, accept deposits, issue insurance or give financial advice.
- Loans, insurance, savings, payment and other financial products in Rocket App are offered by regulated entities, and are subject to the rules of their regulators, such as the Reserve Bank of India and the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India. Rocket App will name the regulated entity offering each product.
- The regulated entity decides your eligibility, and the price and terms of any product, under its own policies. For loans, the lender must give you a Key Fact Statement and its loan terms before you sign. Read these carefully.
- Unless clearly stated and permitted by the regulated entity's arrangements, Rocketwave does not collect loan repayments or insurance premiums on anyone's behalf. Never make payments to an individual claiming to act for Rocketwave.
- For complaints about a financial product, contact the regulated entity first. If its response does not resolve your complaint, you may use the grievance channels of its regulator. We will help you reach the right contact.
16. Jobs and onboarding opportunities
- Jobs, delivery-partner programmes, fleet onboarding and similar opportunities in Rocket App are offered by Partners. Rocketwave is not your employer, and does not decide who is selected.
- Partners may carry out their own checks, such as background or document verification, under their own policies and the law.
- Unless clearly stated before you apply, Rocketwave does not charge riders any fee to apply for jobs or onboarding opportunities listed in Rocket App.
17. Promotions, rewards and referrals
From time to time we may offer promotions, cashback, rewards or referral programmes. Each one will have its own rules, including eligibility, validity and how rewards are earned and used, which will be shown before you take part. Unless its rules say otherwise, rewards have no cash value, cannot be transferred, and may be withdrawn if obtained through fraud, misuse or breach of these Terms.
Back to contents ↑18. Your content and conduct
If you post or send content through our Services, such as reviews, feedback, photos or messages, you are responsible for it. You grant Rocketwave a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use it to operate and improve our Services.
You must not use the Services to host, display, upload, share or send anything that:
- belongs to another person and that you have no right to use;
- is defamatory, obscene, pornographic, invasive of another's privacy, harassing, hateful or encourages violence;
- harms children, or is misleading or deceptive;
- infringes any patent, trademark, copyright or other proprietary right;
- impersonates another person;
- threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, or public order;
- contains viruses or harmful code;
- violates any law in force.
We may remove content and take action against accounts that breach these rules, as required under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 where they apply.
Back to contents ↑Part D: Partners and advertisers
19. Partnership Agreements
- Any partnership with Rocketwave, including site leases or licences, battery or equipment arrangements, advertising campaigns and distribution or referral arrangements, is governed by a Partnership Agreement signed by both parties.
- Information on the Website, proposals and discussions are not binding offers. Letters of intent and term sheets are not binding unless they expressly say so.
- If a Partnership Agreement conflicts with these Terms, the Partnership Agreement prevails. These Terms fill any gaps it does not cover.
20. Property and site partners
Unless a Partnership Agreement says otherwise:
- the property owner confirms that it owns the site, or is authorised to grant the rights it gives us, and that the site is free from disputes that would prevent its use;
- both parties will cooperate to obtain any approvals, permits, electricity connections and no-objection certificates needed to install and operate a Station;
- Rocketwave will install, operate and maintain its equipment in line with applicable safety standards and laws, and will be responsible for its equipment;
- the property owner will give Rocketwave and its contractors reasonable access for installation, operation, maintenance and emergencies;
- advertising at a site will follow the site's agreed rules and local regulations;
- neither party is exclusive to the other unless agreed in writing.
21. Advertising and campaign standards
- Advertiser responsibility. Advertisers and campaign Partners are responsible for their content, claims and offers. Each confirms that it holds all rights and licences needed for the materials it provides, and that its content complies with applicable law. This includes the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and rules and guidelines on misleading advertisements, the Code of the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI), and sector rules such as those of RBI, IRDAI and SEBI for financial products.
- Prohibited advertising. We do not accept advertising for tobacco or alcohol (including surrogate advertising), betting or gambling, adult content, weapons, illegal products or services, unregistered lenders or financial schemes, or anything else that is unlawful or that we reasonably consider unsafe or misleading.
- Our right to review. We may review, ask for changes to, reject or remove any advertisement or campaign at any time if we reasonably believe it breaches these standards, the law or a Partnership Agreement.
- No guaranteed results. Unless a Partnership Agreement sets specific delivery commitments, we do not guarantee any audience size, footfall, impressions, leads, conversions, sales or other outcomes.
- Reporting. Campaign reports are provided in aggregated, anonymised form. Partners must not try to identify individuals from campaign data.
22. Data and confidentiality between partners
- Each party will comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable data protection laws for personal data it handles. Where one party processes personal data on the other's behalf, the parties will agree appropriate terms in the Partnership Agreement.
- A Partner that receives users' personal data through Rocket App, with their consent, becomes an independent Data Fiduciary for that data. It must use the data only for the purpose the user agreed to.
- Each party will keep confidential any non-public business, technical or commercial information it receives from the other. It will use that information only for the partnership, except where disclosure is required by law.
Part E: Legal terms for everyone
23. Intellectual property
The Services and all content in them belong to Rocketwave or its licensors and are protected by law. This includes the Rocketwave and Rocket App names and logos, the Website, app software, text, illustrations, designs and data. Except for the limited rights expressly granted in these Terms, no rights are transferred to you. You may not use our names, logos or trademarks without our prior written consent.
Back to contents ↑24. Third-party services and links
The Services may include links to, or rely on, services provided by others. These include Partner websites and apps, payment providers, maps, Google Fonts and your email app. We do not control these services and are not responsible for their content, availability or practices. Their own terms apply.
Back to contents ↑25. Disclaimers
Except as expressly stated in these Terms or a Plan or Partnership Agreement, the Services are provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
Nothing in these Terms affects any right you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded or limited under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or other applicable law.
Back to contents ↑26. Limitation of liability
- To the extent permitted by law, Rocketwave will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of profit, earnings, revenue, business, goodwill or data, arising from or relating to the Services.
- To the extent permitted by law, Rocketwave's total liability to you for all claims relating to the Services in any 12-month period will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid Rocketwave for the Services in the 3 months before the event giving rise to the claim, and (b) ₹5,000.
- We are not responsible for Partner Offers, or for the acts or omissions of Partners, except where the law makes us responsible.
- Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law.
- For Partners, the liability provisions of the Partnership Agreement apply instead of this section.
27. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Rocketwave, its directors, employees and agents against reasonable losses, damages, costs and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Services or Batteries, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
Back to contents ↑28. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Services at any time and may ask us to close your account, subject to returning any Batteries and paying any amounts due. We may suspend or terminate your access to any Service as described in section 12, or if required by law or a regulator. Sections that by their nature should continue after termination will continue, including those on payments, Batteries, intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, indemnity and disputes.
Back to contents ↑29. Events beyond our control
We are not liable for any delay or failure to provide the Services caused by events beyond our reasonable control. These include natural disasters, floods, fire, epidemics, power or network failures, strikes, riots, acts of government, changes in law, or failures of third-party suppliers. We will take reasonable steps to limit the impact and to restore the Services.
Back to contents ↑30. Governing law and dispute resolution
- Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of India.
- Talk to us first. If you have a dispute with us, please contact us first (section 33). Both parties will try in good faith to resolve it within 30 days.
- Consumers. If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms limits your right to approach the appropriate Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. Subject to that, the courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka have jurisdiction.
- Businesses and Partners. Unless a Partnership Agreement provides otherwise, any dispute between Rocketwave and a business user or Partner that is not resolved within 30 days will be referred to arbitration by a sole arbitrator appointed by mutual agreement, under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. The seat and venue of arbitration will be Bengaluru, Karnataka, and the language will be English. Subject to this, the courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka have exclusive jurisdiction.
31. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes in our Services, our business or the law. We will post the updated Terms on this page with a new "Last updated" date. If a change materially affects your rights, we will notify you through Rocket App, SMS or email before it takes effect. If you continue to use the Services after the change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you may stop using the Services and cancel any Plan.
Back to contents ↑32. General

- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any additional terms referred to in section 1, are the entire agreement between you and Rocketwave about the Services. For Partners, the Partnership Agreement also applies.
